East Passage Live Webcam

Now Streaming Live!

In October, we launched a live streaming webcam! The cam is located in Burien, WA, just south of Seattle, and overlooks East Passage between the mainland and Vashon Island. This waterway is frequented by orcas, humpback whales, and other marine life like sea lions, porpoises, and more. You can also spot a variety of bird species like Bald Eagles and Osprey.

About the Webcam

The webcam was installed in September 2025, with the live stream launching on October 1st, 2025. It is located in a private community in Burien, Washington, and is operated and maintained exclusively by the Orca Conservancy team.

Conditions and equipment permitting, the cam will be operational 24/7 year-round. On occasion, the cam may go offline due to power outages or standard maintenance. The cam can see approximately 3.5 miles (5.6 km) out, and can see as far south as Three Tree Point, and as far north as Blake Island. You can also see the Fauntleroy ferry to Vashon Island and Southworth

Throughout the year, East Passage sees regular whale traffic. Transients, also called Bigg’s killer whales, can be seen in this area year-round. During Fall through early Winter, the critically endangered Southern Resident killer whales can also be seen in this area foraging for the Fall and Winter Chum runs. During the late Spring through the Fall, humpback whales also travel through this area.
