Orca Conservancy files Amicus Brief in support of Friends of Sammamish Valley and Futurewise’ Adult Beverage Ordinance 19030 Supreme Court Case

Amicus briefs provide additional information and expertise plaintiffs and/or defendants may not have, and develop legal arguments the parties sometimes cannot.

Friends of Sammamish Valley and Futurewise both filed Petitions for Review to the Washington State Supreme Court in July 2023, requesting review of the Court of Appeals Div I opinion overturning the Growth Management Hearings Board invalidation of Adult Beverage Ordinance 19030 for failing to meet SEPA and GMA requirements. The next Supreme Court hearing will be on May 21, 2024.

Orca Conservancy is honored to be a 'friend of the court' while continuing to be a strong voice for protection of the critically endangered Southern Resident killer whale (SRKW) population, and the wild salmon SRKWs rely on for survival.
